A staged home simply means making it look its best so that potential buyers can envision themselves living there. This can involve a variety of things, such as decluttering, cleaning, making repairs, and adding fresh paint and flowers. According to a new report released by TheMreport.com, the data shows a staged home will sell faster than an unstaged home.
Why A Staged Home?
- Homes are taking longer to sell. The average days on market are consistently increasing since the fall of 2022. Home staging helps buyers envision themselves in a new home, said Dr. Jessica Lautz, NAR Deputy Chief Economist and VP of Research.

- Likely due to buyer expectations of what a home should look like, 51% of surveyed Realtors said they’ve seen an increase in buyers who planned to remodel a home.
- Enticing buyers on the sidelines with staging may help bring an accepted offer. The nation’s limited housing supply is impacting buyers nationwide, as new listings are scarce and many homeowners are staying put because they’re unwilling to give up their low mortgage rate.
